Chelsea’s second signing of the summer Timo Werner has spoken out about his life in London following his move.
The Germany international has spoken to the club about the upcoming season and how he has been settling into this new chapter in his career.
“My apartment is very nice, I feel happy there and also the city of London is brilliant,” Werner told chelseafc.com. “For me, London is one of the best cities in the world so I’m really happy.
“When you take a few days away, the weather was also very good! Yes, I’m very happy and settling in well.”
Could Timo Werner challenge for this season's Golden Boot?
The 24-year-old attacking sensation signed for the Blues back in June in a shock transfer twist. Werner was originally heavily linked to Premier League rivals Liverpool, with a move to Anfield looking the obvious outcome.
The striker even admitted he thought Jurgen Klopp’s style of play suited him, however Chelsea were able to sneak under the radar and secure the signing for themselves.
Werner has already hit the ground running after scoring in Chelsea’s pre-season friendly against Brighton, which will serve as a warm-up before the two sides meet again in the Premier League in two weeks’ time.
The German needed just four minutes on the pitch before finding the back of the net (via Sofascore), which could be a preview of things to come.
“The work with the manager recently has been really good,” Werner continued. “He’s been showing and explaining to the whole team, not just me, what we can do on the pitch and how to improve on last season.”
Chelsea will be looking to build on their fourth place finish from last time out and hope to push for their seventh Premier League title.
