Chelsea have had perhaps one of the most successful transfer windows in the club’s history following their major summer haul.
After lots of speculation and some impressive business from Marina Granovskaia, the Blues have added six senior signings to their roster this summer. With time still left on the clock, they could also still get a couple more through the door.
One player in particular who has attracted a lot of buzz is Kai Havertz. Chelsea finally landed a deal for the midfield sensation after months of ongoing talks as the west Londoners forked out an eye-watering £71m for the former Bayer Leverkusen man (via BBC Sport).
Will Kai Havertz score more than ten goals for Chelsea?
Former Chelsea ace Tony Cascarino has tipped Havertz to have a huge impact on his new club.
“I cannot wait to see Kai Havertz, Timo Werner and Christian Pulisic leading the line for Chelsea,” he told The Times (via Metro). “Frank Lampard’s team now have the most exciting front three in the Premier League and, whisper it, they have what it takes to be more prolific than Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino at Liverpool.
“Havertz, in particular, is going to be a massive player for Chelsea. He is a better acquisition this summer than Jadon Sancho would be.”
The Blues were once linked with highly sought-after England international Jadon Sancho. Similarly, Liverpool and Manchester United have also shown interest in him this year. According to The Guardian, the Red Devils are very keen on the young star and have already had a bid rejected for him.
United reportedly tabled an offer amounting to a total of £107m (£90m plus £17m in add-ons) but Dortmund have knocked them back.
Sancho racked up an impressive 17 goals and 17 assists in 32 Bundesliga appearances but Havertz arguably had a better return for a midfielder. The German international tallied 12 goals and six assists in 30 league games (via Transfermarkt).
Frank Lampard will be hoping to challenge Manchester City and Liverpool in this season’s title race and the addition of Havertz to his midfield, along with fellow new signing Timo Werner, could play a key part in doing so.
