# Chelsea: Juventus prepared to offer Douglas Costa in exchange for Jorginho

**With it being heavily reported that Chelsea [want to offload some players](https://theprideoflondon.com/2020/05/17/chelsea-offload-players-fund-summer-rebuild/) in the summer transfer window, some of Europe’s best teams have been circling and Italian giants Juventus are willing to offer the Blues a forward in a swap deal for Jorginho.**

Earlier this month, the current Serie A champions were [**prepared to offer Chelsea their pick of three stars**](https://www.teamtalk.com/news/jorginho-sarri-juventus-offer-three-for-transfer) in return for the midfielder.

However, according to [*Sport Mediaset*](https://www.sportmediaset.mediaset.it/mercato/la-juve-non-molla-jorginho-douglas-costa-per-convincere-il-chelsea_19251131-202002a.shtml) via [HITC](https://www.teamtalk.com/news/juventus-offer-douglas-costa-jorginho-swap-lampard-keen), Juventus have since been in touch with Chelsea director Marina Granovskaia to offer Brazilian winger [**Douglas Costa**](https://www.teamtalk.com/news/tag/douglas-costa) in a straight swap deal.

This type of deal could be a good idea but not with the players mentioned, as they are in completely different positions – Costa is a tenacious winger who loves to take on opposition defences, highlighted by his 1.7 successful dribbles per game, via [WhoScored.](https://www.whoscored.com/PlayerComparison)

Meanwhile, Jorginho is a centre midfielder who works on breaking up opposition attacks and is a great shield for his defence, as supported by his averages of 2.2 tackles and interceptions per game this [season](https://www.whoscored.com/PlayerComparison).

It would not make sense to exchange two differently-styled players, while incoming Chelsea signing Hakim [Ziyech](https://www.standard.co.uk/sport/football/chelsea-signing-hakim-ziyech-ajax-player-of-the-year-third-season-a4442301.html#:~:text=Chelsea%20signing%20Hakim%20Ziyech%20has,37.4m%20move%20in%20February.) has outperformed Costa massively this season as he has managed [six goals and 12 assists](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/115868/Show/Hakim-Ziyech) compared to the Brazilian’s return of [zero goals three assists](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/68889/Show/Douglas-Costa).

The Blues should keep the good defensive midfielder they have and utilise their new signing Ziyech instead of looking towards Douglas Costa as an option.
