# Chelsea in ‘advanced talks’ to sign “different” Ligue 1 star as replacement for Enzo Fernandez

Chelsea’s biggest transfer story right now surrounds the future of Enzo Fernandez, with Manchester City pushing to reunite the midfielder with former Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca.

[Fernandez is reportedly already on board with the move](https://chelseanews.com/blog/chelsea-transfer-news-alex-scott-3/), leaving the two clubs to settle on a fee.

[Chelsea](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/chelsea-fc-transfer-rumours/) are seeking more than the £120 million they originally paid for the Argentine, but the Blues are clearly preparing for the possibility of his departure.

That has led them towards an intriguing Ligue 1 alternative.

## **Chelsea Eyeing Camara to Replace Fernandez**

Chelsea are considering Lamine Camara as a potential replacement for Enzo Fernandez, with talks over a move for the Monaco midfielder understood to be advancing.

[According to TEAMtalk’s Graeme Bailey](https://www.teamtalk.com/chelsea/lamine-camara-chelsea-as-monaco-transfer-deal-done), Chelsea have reached a broad understanding over a possible deal for the 22-year-old Senegal international, while Fabrizio Romano has also provided an update on the situation.

Monaco are believed to want around €60 million (£51.4 million) for Camara, a figure Chelsea are reportedly comfortable with as they prepare for the possibility of losing Fernandez.

The Senegalese midfielder has emerged as an attractive option for Xabi Alonso’s side because of the different qualities he could bring to their midfield.

Former Chelsea defender and [AS Monaco manager Felipe Luis has highlighted](https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/never-seen-20-years-filipe-131000523.html) just how unusual Camara’s skill set is, describing him as a “different” type of player and admitting he had “never seen that in 20 years.”

Chelsea’s interest has now seemingly accelerated, with reports indicating that an agreement has been reached with Monaco and the player, while Camara is expected to undergo a medical shortly.

Should Fernandez ultimately complete his move to City, Chelsea would therefore already have a replacement lined up in the form of one of Ligue 1’s most intriguing young midfielders.
