# Chelsea have buy back clause for Tammy Abraham

**[Chelsea](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/chelsea-fc-news/) have a special agreement with Roma to sign former striker Tammy Abraham if they meet a pre-agreed price, according to Fabrizio Romano.**

### The Lowdown: Abraham return mooted

The Englishman enjoyed five years at Stamford Bridge between 2016 and 2021, [scoring 30 goals](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/tammy-abraham/alletore/spieler/331726) in 82 appearances, as well as registering 12 assists.

Abraham eventually left in order to enjoy more regular playing time, however, joining Serie A giants Roma and bagging [17 league goals](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/317506/History/Tammy-Abraham) in his first season there.

It could be that he leaves the club this summer, however, with his form and minutes [dropping](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/317506/History/Tammy-Abraham) off slightly from the previous term, and he has been [linked](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/chelsea-fc-news/chelsea-premier-league-blues-tammy-abraham-transfer-news-updates/) with a reunion with Chelsea.

### The Latest: Romano confirms buyback agreement

Taking to [Twitter](https://twitter.com/FabrizioRomano/status/1633793630379933698?s=20) on Thursday, Romano confirmed an €80m (£70m) clause in Abraham’s Roma contract that exists only for Chelsea:

> “Chelsea have €80m buy back clause for Tammy Abraham valid in summer.”

### The Verdict: Is he good enough?

There is no denying Abraham’s pedigree as a striker – Gary Lineker once [called](https://twitter.com/GaryLineker/status/1179477287244324864?s=20) him ‘classy’ – considering he has represented Chelsea and Roma, as well as [scoring three goals](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/tammy-abraham/profil/spieler/331726) in 11 caps for England.

Whether or not he is at the level required for the Blues this summer is up for debate, however, with the club needing to bring in a genuinely elite attacker to lead the line.

Abraham isn’t that, despite his aforementioned goalscoring prowess, with Napoli star Victor Osimhen on another level, having [netted 19 times](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/298510/Show/Victor-Osimhen) in 20 league starts this season, not to mention being [linked](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/chelsea-fc-news/chelsea-blues-premier-league-victor-osimhen-transfer-news-updates/) with Chelsea also.

If the former Blues man is happy to come in as a backup option then that would work, but it is highly unlikely that he will be content with that, given the stage of his career he is at.
