# Chelsea: Joao Felix wants permanent Blues stay

**[Chelsea](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/chelsea-fc-news/) attacker [Joao Felix](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/tag/joao-felix/) would prefer to join the Blues permanently this summer rather than return to parent club Atletico Madrid, according to reports from Spain.**

### The Lowdown: Felix promising for Chelsea

The 23-year-old [moved](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11095/12783735/joao-felix-chelsea-sign-atletico-madrid-and-portugal-forward-on-loan) to Stamford Bridge on loan during the January transfer window, having fallen out of favour under Diego Simeone at the Wanda Metropolitano.

Felix may have been [red-carded](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/62776438) on his Chelsea defeat away to Fulham last month but he has looked like a vibrant addition to their attack, [scoring once](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/joao-felix/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/462250/verein/631) so far.

It could be that the Blues look to sign him on a permanent basis once the summer arrives, and it appears as though that could be the ideal scenario for all parties.

### The Latest: Felix wants to stay at Chelsea

According to one [Spanish media outlet](https://www.fichajes.net/noticias/joao-felix-prefiere-jugar-chelsea-20230224.html) \[via [Caught Offside](https://www.caughtoffside.com/2023/02/25/23-year-old-attacker-hints-at-desire-to-play-for-chelsea-next-season/)\], Felix prefers the idea of staying put at Chelsea instead of making a return to Atletico this summer.

He is thought to be currently happy at Stamford Bridge and sees his future away from the [La Liga](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/la-liga-news/) giants, [stating](https://www.fichajes.net/noticias/joao-felix-prefiere-jugar-chelsea-20230224.html): “The position I play in and the way we play at Chelsea is different to how we play at Atlético, I have more freedom to practice my football, to be at my best level. I feel good here.”

### The Verdict: Snap him up

Frankly, Chelsea would be mad not to do all that they can to keep Felix at the club for years to come, considering that he has been [described](https://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/morata-joao-felix-is-special-and-i-love-playing-with-him-at-atletico-madrid/bltd18317dc2e653348) as a ‘special talent’ by former Atletico and Chelsea striker Alvaro Morata.

The [28-cap](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/joao-felix/profil/spieler/462250) Portugal international has already done enough in his brief time in west London to show that he is worth persevering with, possessing quick feet, unpredictability and long-term potential.

Felix [won](https://www.footballtransfers.com/en/statistics/players/golden-boy-award-winners) the prestigious European Golden Boy award in 2019, with other recent recipients including Kylian Mbappe and Erling Haaland, and he should become a genuine superstar at Stamford Bridge if he reaches his full potential and best form.

The reports that Atletico seemingly don’t view him as a key player moving forward should further work in Chelsea’s favour, as should his apparent desire to turn the loan move into a permanent one, and a summer transfer would be great news for the Blues.
