# Chelsea: Moises Caicedo to cost £90m

**[Chelsea](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/chelsea-fc-news/) transfer target Moises Caicedo will cost £90m if the Blues want to sign him, according to [The Independent](https://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/moises-caicedo-arsenal-chelsea-brighton-transfer-b2271108.html) journalist Miguel Delaney.**

### The Lowdown: Chelsea eyeing up Caicedo move

The Blues continue to look bullish in the transfer market, having already acquired the services of [six players](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/chelsea-fc/transfers/verein/631/plus/?saison_id=2022&pos=&detailpos=&w_s=w) (including Joao Felix and Mykhailo Mudryk) this month.

Another player who has been [linked](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-11686665/Brighton-tell-Moises-Caicedo-stay-away-training-tries-complete-Arsenal-move.html) with a move to Stamford Bridge is Caicedo, who has excelled for Brighton this season but is now looking to [force an exit](https://twitter.com/MoisesCaicedo55/status/1619096366252437505?s=20&t=ukwOPIQb0jaxciz9UUbskg) from the Amex Stadium.

However, despite the player’s apparent desire to leave and his social media actions [enraging club bosses](https://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/moises-caicedo-arsenal-chelsea-brighton-transfer-b2271108.html), his current employers won’t simply let him walk away for a song.

### The Latest: Brighton want £90m for Caicedo

Taking to [Twitter](https://twitter.com/MiguelDelaney/status/1619308766473908225?s=20&t=eIXMm4-1wixMSYC7pGnHAQ) in sharing a corresponding article for [The Independent](https://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/moises-caicedo-arsenal-chelsea-brighton-transfer-b2271108.html), Delaney said that Brighton will only sell Caicedo for an eye-watering amount of money.

He tweeted: “Chelsea and Arsenal would have to go to £90m on Caicedo.”

### The Verdict: Is he worth it?

Caicedo does look like an exceptional young midfield talent, having won [2.9 tackles](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/410175/Show/Mois%C3%A9s-Caicedo) and [1.3 aerial duels](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/410175/Show/Mois%C3%A9s-Caicedo) per game in the [Premier League](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/premier-league-news/) this season and previously being dubbed a “[terrific athlete](https://www.sussexexpress.co.uk/sport/football/brighton-and-hove-albion/a-terrific-athlete-who-is-cool-in-possession-top-pundits-description-of-brighton-target-that-will-excite-fans-3094944)” by South American football expert Tim Vickery.

No Chelsea player has [averaged](https://www.whoscored.com/Teams/15/Show/England-Chelsea) more tackles per match, barring Mudryk in one appearance, highlighting how much bite the Ecuadorian could add to the Blues’ midfield.

That being said, £90m is a vast sum of money who has only played [26 times](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/moises-caicedo/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/687626/wettbewerb/GB1/verein/1237) in the Premier League, and it could be argued that the [£15,000-per-week](https://fbref.com/en/players/16264a81/Moises-Caicedo) Caicedo hasn’t proven himself to be worth that sort of fee over a prolonged period of time.

That would make Chelsea signing the 21-year-old for such a figure a clear gamble, even though he has been hailed as ‘[fantastic](https://www.theargus.co.uk/sport/20833857.graham-potter-praises-caicedo-liverpool-linked/)‘ by his former Brighton boss Graham Potter, and the Blues could be wise to hold off for now or consider a cheaper alternative.
