# Chelsea: Sassuolo in talks with Blues over potential Kenedy deal

**Serie A outfit Sassuolo are reportedly in talks with Chelsea over a loan move for wing-back Kenedy, according to *Sky Sports Italia* via [Football Italia.](https://www.football-italia.net/143508/sassuolo-talks-kenedy)**

The Brazilian had previously been [linked with a move to Reading](https://www.getreading.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/chelsea-midfielder-kenedy-linked-reading-16721844), though nothing materialised.

Kenedy spent the last 18 months on loan at Newcastle United, [scoring once and assisting one in 28 appearances](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/kenedy/leistungsdatenverein/spieler/281404) for the Magpies last term.

With Emerson Palmieri and Marcos Alonso both seemingly ahead of him in the pecking order at Stamford Bridge, the 23-year-old is set to see a lack of game time in west London if he remains at the club this season.

Indeed, [having joined the Blues from Brazilian outfit Fluminense for a reported £7m back in 2015](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/kenedy/profil/spieler/281404), Kenedy has only made 27 senior appearances for the club, spending a total of two years out on loan at Watford and Newcastle respectively.

The Brazilian featured for Chelsea throughout pre-season, but hasn’t played a minute for the Blues in their opening three Premier League games so far, [and could be left out of the club’s Champions League squad](https://www.sportsmole.co.uk/football/chelsea/transfer-talk/news/kenedy-to-leave-chelsea-on-loan_369657.html) due to the limit on foreign players allowed by each side in the competition.

From Sassuolo’s perspective, acquiring Kenedy this season would be seen as a huge coup considering the lack of options the club have available to them on the left-hand side. [First-choice left-back Rogerio is currently out injured](https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/football/9819074/chelsea-kenedy-transfer-sassuolo-lampard/), so they need reinforcements in that area of the pitch.

[Kenedy is also adept to playing in a more advanced position on the wing](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/kenedy/profil/spieler/281404), so would bring versatility to the Italians’ squad. It’s obvious that his career at Chelsea isn’t progressing, so a temporary move to the Serie A seems like the best scenario for both club and player.
