# Chelsea: Target David Alaba could be a Premier League player ‘within a fortnight’

**According to[Sky Sports](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11890/12051853/david-alaba-premier-league-clubs-keen-on-bayern-munich-defender), Bayern Munich star and Chelsea target David Alaba could be a Premier League player ‘within a fortnight’ – and the Austrian remains ‘poles apart’ in terms of negotiating a new deal with the Bundesliga giants.**

Chelsea, Man United and Man City in particular have been touted with an interest in the £58.5 million-valued colossus ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/david-alaba/nationalmannschaft/spieler/59016)) as per this report, with Blues boss Frank Lampard keen to extend a summer spending spree already equalling a combined [£80 million.](https://www.express.co.uk/sport/football/1322713/Chelsea-transfer-news-Roman-Abramovich-300m-spending-spree)

Sporting director Marina Granovskaia has already landed both Hakim Ziyech and Timo Werner in multi-million pound transfer dealings, but Chelsea are also keen to reinforce at the back with Alaba becoming a top target.

This latest update, coming in the form of Alaba still [refusing to extend his stay](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11890/12051853/david-alaba-premier-league-clubs-keen-on-bayern-munich-defender) at the Allianz Arena, could be a huge boost for Chelsea ahead of the 2020/2021 Premier League title challenge.

Statistically, the 28-year-old impressed throughout last season in the German top flight – averaging a [90.7% pass accuracy](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/39722/Show/David-Alaba) out from the back whilst making [more tackles per 90](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/39722/Show/David-Alaba) than current Chelsea stalwart Kurt Zouma ([WhoScored](https://www.whoscored.com/Teams/15/Show/England-Chelsea)).

His versatility could also be attracting the Blues’ interest, with Alaba capable of filling in as a centre-back, left-back and [even a midfielder when required.](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/39722/Show/David-Alaba)

Teammate and Germany international ace Joshua Kimmich certainly holds him in high regard, describing the [72-cap international](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/david-alaba/nationalmannschaft/spieler/59016) as ‘outstanding’ and ‘one of the best in the world’ in central defence ([Bundesliga](https://www.bundesliga.com/en/bundesliga/news/joshua-kimmich-david-alaba-one-of-the-best-in-the-world-at-centre-back-bayern-8102)).

Depending on Alaba’s contract situation, he could theoretically become a Chelsea player in a matter of weeks depending on negotiations, and all these accolades point to a player who is certainly worth the wait.
