# Everton: Armando Broja would be a ‘brilliant’ signing

**[Journalist Paul Brown](https://twitter.com/pbsportswriter) has claimed that Armando Broja would be a ‘brilliant’ signing for [Everton](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/everton-fc-news/).**

### The Lowdown: January target

It has been reported that the Goodison Park outfit are [still monitoring](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/everton-fc-news/everton-armando-broja-transfer-news-premier-league/) Broja after failing to sign him in the summer.

They signed Neal Maupay from Brighton and Hove Albion instead as cover for Dominic Calvert-Lewin, who has suffered from constant [injury problems](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/dominic-calvert-lewin/verletzungen/spieler/306024) during his time on Merseyside.

However, they are the [joint-second lowest scorers](https://www.premierleague.com/tables) in the [Premier League](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/premier-league-news/), and so could look to add more firepower come the January transfer window.

### The Latest: Be a ‘brilliant’ signing

Speaking to [GiveMeSport](https://www.givemesport.com/88082355-everton-lightning-quick-6-ft-3-star-would-be-brilliant-signing), Brown has claimed that Broja would be a ‘brilliant’ signing for Frank Lampard’s team, adding that they would be ‘willing’ to pay the money to sign him:

*“I think Broja would be a brilliant signing for Everton. Depending how you play, you could play him in more than one kind of role. I also think if they’re willing to pay the money for him, he’s actually someone who could play with either of the current strikers.*

“*He would quite comfortably sit next to Maupay, and he would quite comfortably sit playing off Calvert-Lewin, because he suits both of their styles of play. I think Broja could come in and be the aggressor in a team with Maupay flitting around him and picking up scraps and the two of them linking up. And I think he could do the opposite job if Calvert Lewin was playing. I think he could be the one flitting around, picking up good positions, making runs and feeding off Calvert-Lewin and helping him really in front of goal.”*

### The Verdict: Get it done

The Toffees may need to take a chance in January, as they will go into the window sitting [dangerously above](https://www.premierleague.com/tables) the relegation zone.

Hailed as [‘lightning-quick’](https://twitter.com/JacobsBen/status/1582811653686849536) by journalist Ben Jacobs, Broja is perhaps a different kind of profile to Calvert-Lewin in his ability to stretch defences, despite being a mammoth six-foot-three inches tall.

After impressing on loan at Southampton last season with six goals in 32 matches in the Premier League, he has been limited to being a bit-part player at Chelsea this term, having not completed the full 90 minutes once in 12 appearances ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/armando-broja/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/571743/plus/0?saison=&verein=&liga=&wettbewerb=GB1&pos=&trainer_id=)).

Nonetheless, Broja is still only 21 years of age, and so has a very high ceiling.
