# Tottenham: Clement Lenglet will leave this summer if Antonio Conte quits

**[Tottenham Hotspur](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/tottenham-hotspur-news/) centre-back Clement Lenglet, who is on loan from Barcelona, will leave the club this summer if [Antonio Conte](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/tag/antonio-conte/) decides to quit, according to a report from [Football Insider](https://www.footballinsider247.com/sources-204000-week-tottenham-star-clement-lenglet-will-follow-conte-if-he-quits/).**

### The Lowdown: Conte’s future uncertain

Tottenham have made attempts to extend Conte’s contract beyond [2023](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/antonio-conte/profil/trainer/3517), with the club said to be [hopeful](https://www.standard.co.uk/sport/football/tottenham-antonio-conte-new-contract-talks-b1046668.html) ahead of fresh talks back in December, but they have not managed to do so, and his future is looking uncertain.

Journalist Gianluca Di Marzio has [claimed](https://www.soccernews.nl/news/exclusief-spectaculaire-terugkeer-bij-tottenham-hotspur/) that, in all likelihood, the Italian will part ways with Spurs at the end of the season, and his departure could have a knock-on effect…

### The Latest: Lenglet will follow

As per a [report](https://www.footballinsider247.com/sources-204000-week-tottenham-star-clement-lenglet-will-follow-conte-if-he-quits/) from Football Insider, Lenglet will follow the 53-year-old out of the door if he decides to leave, as the manager was key to luring the Frenchman to the club in the first place.

The 27-year-old’s loan deal is set to [expire](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/clement-lenglet/profil/spieler/182904) at the end of the season, while his contract with Barca does not end until 2026, but it appears as though Spurs will not be in the running for his signature come the summer.

### The Verdict: No real loss

The 6 foot 1 titan arrived at Spurs with good pedigree, having made [160](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/clement-lenglet/leistungsdatenverein/spieler/182904) appearances for Barcelona, including 33 in the Champions League, but he has failed to deliver in the [Premier League](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/premier-league-news/).

In the top flight this season, the [£145k](https://www.capology.com/player/clement-lenglet-34867/profile/)-per-week defender has been benched on nine occasions, in each of the last [three](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/clement-lenglet/leistungsdaten/spieler/182904) games, while club expert John Wenham has also [fumed](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/tottenham-hotspur-news/tottenham-hotspur-clement-lenglet-reaction/) about him, claiming Ben Davies is a better option.

As such, it is no real loss if Tottenham are unable to keep hold of Lenglet, and they should be targeting a new centre-back in the summer, with the likes of [Josko Gvardio](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/tottenham-hotspur-news/spurs-pressing-josko-gvardiol-transfer-latest-paratici-levy/)l and [Alessandro Bastoni](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/tottenham-hotspur-news/spurs-alessandro-bastoni-alasdair-gold-transfer-update-latest-rumours/) previously being linked.
