# Club legend delivers damning verdict on Man United star’s future at Old Trafford

**Manchester United fans in the Transfer Tavern are raising their glasses to what they believe is the end of an era, following comments from a Red Devils legend.**

Jose Mourinho’s side sealed their place in the semi-finals of the Europa League with a 2-1 victory over Anderlecht at Old Trafford last night, courtesy of a dramatic extra-time goal from Marcus Rashford, but there was on obvious absentee from the side.

Veteran captain and United’s all-time leading scorer Wayne Rooney was once again overlooked by Mourinho, with the England international’s role in the squad now decreasing to a member of the supporting cast.

That’s led Manchester United legend Roy Keane to claim it’s time for Rooney to leave the club this summer, t[elling *ITV:*](https://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/683/main/2017/04/21/34793852/rooney-has-reached-the-end-at-man-utd-says-club-legend-keane?ICID=HP_BN_6)

> “In terms of the bigger picture I’d have thought that’s the end of Wayne at Manchester United. He will obviously contribute until the end of the season because of injuries.”
>
> “But he must be fuming not to be brought on. I think that’s the final nail in the coffin for him, definitely.”
>
> “Leading scorer at the club, I’d expect him to be fuming, if he’s not fuming then he’s obviously lost the eye of the tiger. He must be like a mad man tonight, he must be.”

Rooney has not featured for United since a goalless draw with West Brom at the start of April and our landlord believes it’s almost certain he’ll be moved on during the summer window.
