# Leeds: Conor McGilligan reacts to James Maddison suspension

**Reporter and [Leeds United](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/leeds-united-news/) fan [Conor McGilligan](https://twitter.com/conormcgilligxn/status/1581353486326722560?s=46&t=TqTynmqdQXeEHcH_awEtuQ) has described an update involving James Maddison as a ‘massive boost’ for the Whites.**

### The Lowdown: Suspension

Jesse Marsch takes his Leeds side to the King Power Stadium on Thursday looking for a [first away win](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/leeds-united/spielplandatum/verein/399/plus/0?saison_id=2022&wettbewerb_id=&day=&heim_gast=gast&punkte=&datum_von=-&datum_bis=-) of the season. The Foxes will be without Maddison, though, after he picked up his [fifth](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/james-maddison/leistungsdaten/spieler/294057) yellow card against Crystal Palace on Saturday, duly incurring a [one-match suspension](https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=2ahUKEwjorv3YouT6AhXxTUEAHd6gDeQQvOMEKAB6BAgJEAE&url=https%3A%2F%2Ftalksport.com%2Ffootball%2F1220559%2Fjames-maddison-gareth-southgate-england-squad-dive-suspension-leicester%2F&usg=AOvVaw0nG-VfZ14EmljuTVjw-KnM).

The attacking midfielder was shown a yellow card in stoppage time, with all five of his cautions coming in the [final 10 minutes](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/james-maddison/leistungsdaten/spieler/294057) of games.

He described it as a ‘massive boost’ for Leeds, with the 25-year-old set to be available for selection against Wolves on Sunday.

### The Verdict: Good news

Maddison has been a shining light for Brendan Rodgers’ side in what has been a disappointing season for Leicester up to now, so knowing he will be missing in midweek can only be viewed as good news from a Leeds perspective.

\[freshpress-quiz id=”410182″\]

He has contributed to [seven](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/james-maddison/leistungsdaten/spieler/294057) goals in [nine](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/james-maddison/leistungsdaten/spieler/294057) Premier League games, three of which came in an impressive 4-0 win over Nottingham Forest earlier this month.

Rodgers will have to rethink his game plan without Maddison, who has been a threat in recent weeks, especially when it comes to set pieces, so hopefully that will benefit the Whites as they seek a first win on the road since that monumental final-day triumph at Brentford in May.
