# Coventry City: Ben Sheaf transfer talks with Arsenal continue

**Talks between Coventry City and Arsenal are ‘[ongoing](https://www.coventrytelegraph.net/sport/football/transfer-news/ben-sheaf-talks-ongoing-arsenal-18747195)‘ over a deal which could see Ben Sheaf join the West Midlands club this summer.**

Sky Blues manager Mark Robins has followed up their League One title win and promotion to the Championship with a number of summer arrivals.

[Gustavo Hamer](https://www.ccfc.co.uk/news/2020/july/transfer-gustavo-hamer-joins-sky-blues/) signed from PEC Zwolle before [Julien Dacosta](https://www.ccfc.co.uk/news/2020/july/transfer-julien-dacosta-signs-for-city/) joined from Chamois Niortais on a free transfer and they have since been joined by three more players. [Callum O’Hare](https://www.ccfc.co.uk/news/2020/july/transfer-callum-ohare-joins-coventry-city/) was next to be announced as a Coventry signings, agreeing a permanent move from Aston Villa, whilst [Marcel Hilssner](https://www.ccfc.co.uk/news/2020/july/transfer-marcel-hilssner-joins-sky-blues/) and [Ryan Giles](https://www.ccfc.co.uk/news/2020/july/transfer-ryan-giles-joins-on-loan-from-wolves-until-the-end-of-the-202021-season/) then came on board.

Interest in Sheaf has since followed, with the [Sky Blues](https://www.coventrytelegraph.net/sport/football/transfer-news/coventry-city-make-six-figure-18702456) growing keen on making a move for the Arsenal youngster. The midfielder spent last season on loan with Coventry’s former League One rivals [Doncaster Rovers](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/ben-sheaf/profil/spieler/314384) but has since returned to his parent club and his future is unknown.

The 22-year-old has come through the youth ranks at the Emirates Stadium after [joining the north London side from West Ham United.](https://metro.co.uk/2014/07/02/arsenal-raid-west-ham-to-sign-england-under-16-midfielder-ben-sheaf-4784662/)

With a six-figure bid reported by [Coventry Telegraph,](https://www.coventrytelegraph.net/sport/football/transfer-news/coventry-city-make-six-figure-18702456) that [report](https://www.coventrytelegraph.net/sport/football/transfer-news/ben-sheaf-talks-ongoing-arsenal-18747195) has been followed by an update from the same source claiming that talks are ongoing over a deal.

Agreeing a potential move for Sheaf would seem like another excellent addition, with the young defensive midfielder, who [scored two goals and assisted two more in 32 League One games](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/ben-sheaf/leistungsdaten/spieler/314384) last term, impressing in recent months.

A six-figure deal would also be quite a statement by Robins, considering that most of their signings so far have been [either free transfers or loan deals](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/coventry-city/transfers/verein/990/saison_id/2020).
