Coventry City will meet Scottish Premiership runners-up Rangers in a pre-season friendly, it has been announced via their official website.
Mark Robins guided the Sky Blues to a superb season this time round, gaining promotion to the Championship.
Having won promotion, Robins has already been busy attempting to bolster his squad options, bringing in the likes of Gustavo Hamer from PEC Zwolle and Julien Dacosta, who previously played for French side Chamois Niortais.
More players are expected to arrive but whilst the Coventry boss is busy looking into those deals, an announcement has been made regarding preparations closer to the start of the 2020/21 campaign.
The Sky Blues confirmed via their official website that Scottish runners-up Rangers would be one of their pre-season opponents, facing them on the 25th July at Ibrox in a behind-closed-doors friendly.
Rangers, who are managed by former Liverpool midfielder Steven Gerrard, will be looking to halt Celtic’s chances of sealing a tenth consecutive league title next season.
The game is scheduled to be shown Sports channel Premier Sports but could also be made available via the club’s website.
A superb test for Robins’ Coventry side, who by that time could find themselves in a superb position, squad wise. The additions of Hamer and Dacosta are excellent ones to say the least, and other players are expected to follow.
Rangers are looking to win the Scottish title next term, so it will be good for the Sky Blues to see how they match up to a side who also compete in the Europa League.
