Coventry City have been joined by a number of Championship clubs with interest in Chelsea striker Ike Ugbo.
The 21-year-old goalscorer has been at Chelsea since his youth days and has progressed through the club’s academy with some moderate success.
Good performances at youth level have also seen the youngster gain recognition on the international stage, playing at both under-17 and under-20 level for England.
Featuring 28 times for the Dutch side during the 2019/2020 season, Ugbo netted an impressive 13 goals and gained two assists in the process.
With such good form in the Keuken Kampioen Divisie in Holland, Ugbo has now gained much interest from English clubs.
Nottingham Post report that Nottingham Forest, Derby County and West Bromwich Albion have joined Coventry in the race to sign the youngster.
It is understood that Ugbo will be allowed to head out on loan again this summer from his parent club, having featured on Chelsea’s retained list earlier this week.
Coventry LIVE mention that both Watford and West Ham United have had some interest in the past.
Ugbo would be a great addition for the Sky Blues this summer and add an extra dimension to Mark Robins’ attacking line up.
Of course, interest from the likes of Nottingham Forest, Derby and potential Premier League side West Brom would be very appealing for the youngster, but if Coventry can guarantee him game time in the second tier, he may well opt to join them for a year and his arrival could be a huge boost to their survival hopes.
