Coventry City are showing an interest in making a summer move for West Bromwich Albion youngster Sam Field, according to BirminghamLIVE.
A hugely successful 2019/2020 campaign for the Sky Blues saw them gain automatic promotion to the Championship from League One after securing the league title.
Boss Mark Robins has been active this summer in strengthening his squad, bringing in the likes of Gustavo Hamer, Julien Dacosta and Callum O’Hare.
With the new season fast approaching, further squad additions could arrive and a latest link has Robins looking at West Brom midfielder Field.
Queens Park Rangers, Huddersfield Town and Barnsley are all said to be interested in making a move for Field, with Coventry now joining them.
The 22-year-old spent last season on loan in the Championship with Charlton Athletic, making 17 league appearances for the Addicks and with West Brom’s promotion to the Premier League, a further loan move is expected.
Aside from the reported interest in Field, Football Insider have claimed that Robins has joined Huddersfield Town in their interest of Manchester United’s James Garner.
Another step in the right direction from Mark Robins.
Interest in Field makes sense, given that other Championship clubs are keen, but it will be interesting to see who the Coventry boss makes a genuine play for out of the two midfielder’s he is reportedly keen on.
Field certainly has more experience than Garner and has even played 19 times in the Premier League, this could be a solid addition for the Sky Blues if they pull it off.
