Coventry City midfielder Gervane Kastaneer has been linked with an exit from the club despite his impressions during pre-season.

Sky Blues manager Mark Robins has made significant changes to his squad ahead of the new season with the likes of Gustavo Hamer and Julien Dacosta coming in.

After promotion from League One to the Championship in which they secured the title, Coventry are now set for a stint in England's second tier.

Dutch winger Kastaneer could be set for an exit from Coventry, with a return to Holland now being reported.

Since arriving in the Midlands last summer form NAC Breda, the 24-year-old has made just 10 league appearances for the Sky Blues, finding the back of the net once in the process (as per Transfermarkt).

Coventry Telegraph have touched on Kastaneer's potential exit with a look at his pre-season performances for Robins' side, claiming that he has impressed the manager to a high standard.

It seems strange that Kastaneer will likely leave the club after having a good pre-season, as the Championship may have been a good challenge for him.

However, it seems that he wants to return to Holland, judging by the report, and that would see Robins lose one of his attacking options.

That being said, the Coventry manager is still actively looking to bring in some other new faces and that could soften the blow of losing Kasteneer, who in any case hadn't much of a look-in during his time in the Midlands.
