Coventry City have stepped up their interest in a summer move for French defender Julien Dacosta, according to RMC Sport via Get French Football News.
With the League One season ended via a points-per-game system, the Sky Blues have been celebrating their promotion to the Championship after finishing top of the table. Mark Robins’ side have been excellent during the last few months and they can now prepare for a return to England’s second tier.
Undoubtedly looking to improve his squad options this summer, Robins has now been linked with a summer move for Dacosta.
Dacosta, who is currently playing with Ligue 2 side FC Chamois Niort, will see his current contract expire at the end of the month, making him available on a free transfer.
The report, which offers very little other insight into a proposed deal, simply claims that ‘negotiations have started’.
Dacosta may not be a familiar name to Coventry fans but you would not imagine that Robins would make a move for someone without first doing his homework on him, especially with Championship football on the horizon.
The French defender seems to have substantial talent and, having played in the French tier before, he could be well set for the potential challenge of playing at a similar level in England.
