Coventry: Transfer report reveals five strikers that Sky Blues could sign this summer - Coventry City Transfer Rumours

A recent report by Coventry Live has revealed five players that Coventry could sign this summer on a free transfer, including former Aston Villa striker Borja Baston.

Sky Blues boss Mark Robins will look to bolster his squad this summer after gaining promotion to the Championship and preparations are already in full swing with the news that both Gustavo Hamer and Julien Dacosta have completed moves to the Midlands club.

Hamer, a defensive midfielder, arrived for just over £1m from Dutch side PEC Zwolle, whilst full-back Dacosta arrived on a free transfer from Chamois Niort.

With Robins now said to be focused on bolstering his attacking options, Coventry Live claimed that as many as five players could be offered a deal by the newly-promoted club.

In terms of forwards, Robins has Matt Godden, Maxime Biamou and Amadou Bakayoko, but only the former has had Championship experience during his career.

The list put together by Coventry Live’s report features Nouha Dicko, Borja Baston, Rushian Hepburn-Murphy, Sam Winnall and Omar Bogle, all of whom are available on free transfers this summer. The quintet have all appeared in the Championship during their careers, netting a combined 70 goals in England’s second tier.

Perhaps the biggest name on that list is Spanish striker Baston, who was recently released by Aston Villa just five months after joining them on a free transfer from Swansea, whist Dicko and Hepburn-Murphy could also be appealing names for Robins to consider.

Any Coventry fans looking at that list could be excited and you have to think that Baston (six Championship goals in 2019/20), Hepburn-Murphy (20 goals in 42 Premier League 2 games) or Dicko (34 previous Championship goals) would be good additions.

From all of those, Hepburn-Murphy could be the most intriguing, chomping at the bit to gain first team football and show his worth after leaving Villa and having had a lacklustre spell with Derby County’s under-23 side.

Whether Coventry move for any of those players remains to be seen but at least it offers hope to the club’s fans that some exciting attacking options could arrive over the summer.
