# Coventry: CSKA Sofia midfielder Graham Carey emerges as target

**Coventry City boss Mark Robins is showing interest in CSKA Sofia midfielder Graham Carey, according to Top Sport as quoted by [Coventry LIVE.](https://www.coventrytelegraph.net/sport/football/transfer-news/coventry-city-target-prolific-midfielder-18779998)**

Sky Blues boss Robins has done some excellent work in bolstering his squad options since he masterminded his side to the League One title and automatic promotion to the Championship.

[Gustavo Hamer](https://www.ccfc.co.uk/news/2020/july/transfer-gustavo-hamer-joins-sky-blues/) and [Julien Dacosta](https://www.ccfc.co.uk/news/2020/july/transfer-julien-dacosta-signs-for-city/) were two of the first names through the door at the club, whilst [Marcel Hilssner](https://www.ccfc.co.uk/news/2020/july/transfer-marcel-hilssner-joins-sky-blues/) has also been joined by former Aston Villa youngster [Callum O’Hare](https://www.ccfc.co.uk/news/2020/july/transfer-callum-ohare-joins-coventry-city/) and [Ryan Giles.](https://www.ccfc.co.uk/news/2020/july/transfer-ryan-giles-joins-on-loan-from-wolves-until-the-end-of-the-202021-season/)

With the new 2020/2021 season fast approaching, interest in a number of other players has emerged with Ipswich Town striker [Kayden Jackson emerging as a potential signing.](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/coventry-city-transfer-rumours/coventry-birmingham-city-show-interest-in-sky-blues-target-jackson/)

Adding to the interest directed towards Jackson, Coventry are also now said to be keen on making a move for Carey.

The 31-year-old Dublin born midfielder made 18 appearances for CSKA Sofia last season, [netting one goal and gaining two assists in the process.](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/graham-carey/profil/spieler/80339)

The report also goes on to add that both Bolton Wanderers and Dundee United are keen to make a move for the former Republic of Ireland under-21 international.

Carey has a current contract with Sofia which runs until next summer and is valued by [Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/graham-carey/profil/spieler/80339) at £360,000.

Whilst Mark Robins’ transfer business has been excellent this summer, a move for Carey is one that does seem strange, especially if he is wanted by League Two side Bolton. Indeed he is now 31-years-old and despite having spells at Plymouth Argyle and Huddersfield Town, he has [never played above League One level](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/graham-carey/detaillierteleistungsdaten/spieler/80339) in the English game.

Robins needs to find consistent performers and experienced ones at that and it would remain to be seen if Carey could come in and provide such.
