# Coventry: Former winger Dexter Walters touches on Sky Blues spell

**Former Coventry City winger Dexter Walters has [revealed](https://www.coventrytelegraph.net/sport/football/football-news/winger-speaks-out-coventry-city-18785979) that he did not regret his time at the club and saw it as a learning curve.**

Birmingham born winger Walters moved to Coventry in [2018](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/45058483) after non-league spells with Romulus and Sutton Coldfield.

Initially playing for the Sky Blues’ under-23 side, the 21-year-old would [appear](https://www.soccerbase.com/players/player.sd?player_id=106571&season_id=151) once for the first team before being [released](https://www.ccfc.co.uk/news/2020/june/news-coventry-city-announce-retained-list-following-end-of-201920-season/) this summer.

[Moving](https://www.thelambs.co.uk/news/dexter-rejoins-the-lambs-9655.htm) to Southern League Premier Division side Tamworth, Walters has discussed his time with the newly promoted Championship side.

*“Coventry was 100 per cent a great experience,”* Walters said as quoted by [Coventry LIVE](https://www.coventrytelegraph.net/sport/football/football-news/winger-speaks-out-coventry-city-18785979). *“I certainly don’t have anything negative to say about them.”*

Coventry’s under-23 side finished second in the [Professional Development League South](https://www.flashscore.co.uk/football/england/professional-development-league/standings/) last season, almost matching the first team’s success.

The young Sky Blues gained promotion along with Watford from the Southern League to Premier League 2.

Coventry’s first team also sealed promotion, securing the League One title to progress up to the Championship.

Walters seemingly enjoyed his time with Coventry, but like many his decision to move on and find regular first team football at senior level is arguably the best choice.

The Sky Blues as club have a lot to look forward to in the coming months and Walters’ words of his time at the club will go down well with fans who have seen the club develop and move forward well.
