# Coventry: Gustavo Hamer signing could be followed by Julien Dacosta

**Coventry City are keen to follow up the signing of Gustavo Hamer with a move for French defender Julien Dacosta.**

Sky Blues boss Mark Robins faces a summer transfer window which will see him attempt to build a squad capable of taking on the challenge of the Championship after gaining promotion from League One.

[A new addition for the Midlands outfit is Hamer](https://www.ccfc.co.uk/news/2020/july/transfer-gustavo-hamer-joins-sky-blues/), with the midfielder having arrived in England earlier this to undergo a 14-day quarantine and medical at the club.

The 23-year-old defensive midfielder racked up [25 appearances](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/gustavo-hamer/profil/spieler/322985) this term prior to the Dutch season being ended due to the coronavirus pandemic and he will now move to the Championship.

Made official on the club’s official website, Coventry are now said to be continuing with their interest in Dacosta.

RMC Sport (via [Get French Football News](https://www.getfootballnewsfrance.com/2020/coventry-city-in-negotiations-with-julien-dacosta-niort/)) initially reported that Coventry were keen to make a move for Dacosta, who played with Ligue 2 side FC Chamois Niort and saw his [current contract expire](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/julien-da-costa/profil/spieler/289196) at the end of June, making him available on a free transfer.

The 24-year-old, who was born in [Marseille](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/julien-da-costa/profil/spieler/289196) and once represented the Ligue 1 side’s academy setup, featured throughout for Niort, making [22](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/julien-da-costa/profil/spieler/289196) appearances during the 2019/20 season.

The [Coventry Telegraph](https://www.coventrytelegraph.net/sport/football/football-news/julien-dacosta-da-costa-coventry-18532588) reported that he could be included in a double announcement by Coventry in the coming weeks, with the defender said to be close to agreeing personal terms.

Coventry are certainly keen to build their squad up early and prepare for the Championship as best as they can.

The addition of Hamer should be an astute one and, if Dacosta can provide defensive cover, then the Coventry boss will have made two shrewd additions to his squad ahead of the new season.
