Still keen on recruiting players, they have made one addition to the Selhurst Park fold this window in the form of 22-year-old American midfielder Jacob Montes \[[Crystal Palace FC Official](https://www.cpfc.co.uk/news/2021/may/midfielder-jacob-montes-to-join-crystal-palace/)\].

He is in the last year of his contract at the Signal Iduna Park, whilst is rumoured to have agitated for a switch to English football should the correct opportunity present itself.

Southampton and Norwich City are also said to be interested in the 29-year-old.

### The Verdict: Delaney would be a major coup

On the face of it, Delaney would be a top signing whose attributes and mentality would be tailor-made for Premier League football.

In 2020/21, the anchor man was outstanding for the North-Rhine side, making 34 appearances and registering six goal contributions; one goal and five assists \[[Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/thomas-delaney/leistungsdaten/spieler/91849)\].

He has also shone at EURO 2020 with his native Denmark, making 16 ball recoveries in four games for the quarter-finalists \[[UEFA](https://www.uefa.com/uefaeuro-2020/teams/players/250010472--thomas-delaney/)\].

A born winner, he has amassed 11 trophies during his time in senior football; five Danish Superliga titles and four Danish Cup trophies with Copenhagen, accompanied by one DFL-Super Cup and a DFB-Pokal in 2021 with Borussia Dortmund \[[Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/thomas-delaney/erfolge/spieler/91849)\].

Once described as a ‘very important player’ by Edin Terzić, he has been a midfield lynchpin throughout his career \[[FanSided](https://bvbbuzz.com/2021/01/08/edin-terzic-hails-thomas-delaney-borussia-dortmund/)\], with a mixture of toughness and quality which is sure to improve the Eagles.

Providing battling midfield qualities with [two tackles per game](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/73744/Show/Thomas-Delaney) in the German top flight this season, Delaney is definitely a player Steve Parish and co should be going all out for.
