# Crystal Palace: Fans buzz as Joel Ward named Player of the Month

**Crystal Palace [announced](https://twitter.com/CPFC/status/1456329282116980755) on Thursday evening that right-back Joel Ward has been voted the club’s Player of the Month for October.**

And, as to be expected, a number of Eagles supporters have been reacting to the news shared on Palace’s [official Twitter page](https://twitter.com/CPFC/status/1456329282116980755).

On-loan midfielder Conor Gallagher had picked up the accolade for [August](https://www.cpfc.co.uk/news/first-team/conor-gallagher-earns-first-player-of-the-month-vote-with-huge-total/2021-09-13/) and [September](https://www.cpfc.co.uk/news/first-team/gallagher-scoops-consecutive-crystal-palace-player-of-the-month-awards/2021-09-30/), however, Ward narrowly stopped him from making it three in a row.

The 32-year-old, who has played every Premier League [minute](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/joel-ward/leistungsdaten/spieler/92572) under Patrick Vieira, helped Palace remain unbeaten in October with three draws and a brilliant win at Manchester City where he made [14](https://twitter.com/CPFC/status/1455214476349767685) defensive actions.

Ward pipped Gallagher by just [2%](https://www.cpfc.co.uk/news/first-team/joel-ward-wins-crystal-palace-player-of-the-month-award-for-october-premier-league-matches/2021-11-04/) of the votes, with the midfielder also starring at the Etihad with a [goal and an assist](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/conor-gallagher/leistungsdaten/spieler/488362).
