# Crystal Palace: Fans doubt club scouted Martin Erlic

**A lot of Crystal Palace fans do not believe the latest transfer rumours that were reported by Gazzetta dello Sport via [Sports Witness](https://sportwitness.co.uk/southampton-crystal-palace-sent-official-defender-spotted-pl-talent/) that said the club had gone to watch a Serie B match to scout Martin Erlic.**

Palace, along with fellow Premier League side Southampton, had supposedly gone to watch Erlic, who plays for Spezia, in a match against Ascoli on Monday.

However, due to recent events, many countries like Italy have imposed a travel ban, per [NPR](https://www.npr.org/2020/03/13/815333188/italys-ambassador-to-the-u-s-on-coronavirus-trump-travel-ban?t=1584528394175), and many fans of the Eagles feel like with this ban, there is no way the club could have been scouting the player.

The player has had a good season in Italy’s second division, per [Sofascore](https://www.sofascore.com/player/martin-erlic/789234), as he has three clean sheets, managing 1.2 interceptions per game and 3.2 clearances per game, whilst only being dribbled past on average 0.1 times a game.

It will be interesting to see how scouting will affect the summer transfer window plans with the recent travel bans.
