# Crystal Palace: Fans fume at Cheikhou Kouyate

**Many Crystal Palace fans are fuming with the performance of Cheikhou Kouyate in the Premier League match against Fulham on Sunday.**

With the Eagles winning against Brighton on Monday, there was not as much pressure on the match at Selhurst Park due to them being on [32](https://www.sofascore.com/tournament/football/england/premier-league/17) points before kick-off.

Fulham on the other hand are in a huge relegation battle, but with results going their way this weekend, ([SofaScore](https://www.sofascore.com/tournament/football/england/premier-league/17)) the match against Roy Hodgson’s side was the perfect opportunity to be the closest to safety that they have been all season.

The Senegalese international is typically a central defensive midfielder but has been used a central defender this campaign. He has been consistently solid before the match against Fulham, managing 1.4 tackles and 3.7 clearances ([WhoScored](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/66741/Show/Cheikhou-Kouyat%C3%A9)).

However against Scott Parker’s side, the 31 year-old was a shadow of his normal self, and lost Joachim Anderson on many set-pieces. Kouyate’s contract expires in June 2022, so he will probably be a key asset for the club for a while, but he needs to step up if he wants to keep his place.
