# Crystal Palace: Fans fume at Tomkins as he gives away a penalty vs Leicester

**Many Crystal Palace fans are fuming with defender James Tomkins following an incident involving him in the first half against Leicester City.**

The Eagles have lost their last [two games](https://www.google.com/search?q=palace+results&oq=palace+results&aqs=chrome.0.69i59j69i57j69i59j69i60l5.1620j0j4&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8#sie=t;/m/0223bl;2;/m/02_tc;mt;fp;1;;), conceding ten goals, so it was understandable to see Roy Hodgson give the player a start. However, the Englishman gave away a [stupid penalty](https://www.sofascore.com/crystal-palace-leicester-city/hsG) when he made a clumsy tackle on left-back Luke Thomas who touched the ball past him. Fans flooded to Twitter to slate the centre-back, with one saying he is ‘dreadful’.

Luckily for the 31-year-old, the penalty was saved, however, it was not the start that he would have wanted. This game was his first start for the South London side since February ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/james-tomkins/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/61592/verein/873)).
