# Crystal Palace: Fans give their thoughts on Danny Gabbidon

**Many Crystal Palace fans are discussing former defender Danny Gabbidon after a page called [PalaceEagles](https://twitter.com/PalaceEaglesc0m/status/1251759936973004800?s=20) on Twitter opened up the debate on the player.**

The 40 year-old ex-centre-back signed back in 2012 after having no club and made 38 appearances, whilst also managing to score 2 goals along the way, per [Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/danny-gabbidon/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/12709/verein/873).

He only made 10 appearances during the club’s last Championship season back in 2012/13, but was surprisingly drafted in for all of their playoff fixtures including the final against Watford, which saw the club get promoted following a 1-0 victory, via [BBC Sport](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/22592831).

In the Premier League, he was seen as a key player for the first season, playing 23 of the fixtures for club, per [Transfermarkt,](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/danny-gabbidon/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/12709/verein/873)before he moved to Cardiff the following summer. However it was a remarkable renaissance for a player who was without a club before signing for the South London side. At the age of 40, he is now a pundit after retiring in 2015.

Here is what fans had to say about the [49-cap](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/danny-gabbidon/nationalmannschaft/spieler/12709/verein_id/3864) former Wales international:

> Solid. Better than people gave him credit for. Always grateful for the roles him and Ramage played alongside Damo that season.
