# Crystal Palace: Fans gutted after Ollie Watkins rules out January transfer

**Several Crystal Palace fans were left disappointed after Brentford striker Ollie Watkins ruled out leaving Griffin Park this month.**

The 24-year-old had previously been linked with a move to the Eagles, with [Sky Sports](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11748/11889837/brentford-ramp-up-ollie-watkins-price-tag-as-crystal-palace-sheffield-united-circle-ahead-of-january) reporting last month that his club had slapped a £25m price tag on him.

However, speaking in an interview with the [British broadcaster](https://www.skysports.com/watch/video/sports/football/11902575/watkins-nice-to-have-pl-interest), Watkins confirmed that he would not be moving this transfer window.

Watkins has been in fantastic form in the Championship this season, bagging [17](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/ollie-watkins/leistungsdaten/spieler/324358) goals in 26 games.

It is the sort of firepower Palace could do with up front, especially given Christian Benteke’s struggles this term. The Belgium international has [failed to register](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/christian-benteke/leistungsdaten/spieler/50201) in a single game, meaning Roy Hodgson’s side have been forced to rely heavily on Jordan Ayew for goals, with the 28-year-old grabbing [five](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/jordan-ayew/leistungsdaten/spieler/108354) for himself in the Premier League.

When you consider that, it is unsurprising that some Palace fans were disappointed with Watkins’ interview.
