# Crystal Palace: Fans praise Clint Hill following tweet

**At the weekend, Crystal Palace were celebrating a decade since ‘survival Sunday’, which was when the club did the unthinkable and managed to stay up in the Championship on the last game of the season, and a lot of the fanbase are praising former player Clint Hill after he tweeted about the great day.**

The club were comfortable in the league as they were safely in a mid table position, but halfway through the campaign, they went into administration and were deducted 10 points, via [BBC Sport](https://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/c/crystal_palace/8481549.stm). This pulled them back into the relegation zone, but a dramatic 2-2 draw against fellow relegation battlers Sheffield Wednesday on the final day, meant that they would keep their Championship status at the expense of the Owls, via [BBC Sport.](https://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/eng_div_1/8646785.stm)

Defender Clint Hill played a crucial part that campaign, featuring 43 times in the league, and he made 127 appearances across the three seasons he was at the club, via [Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/clint-hill/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/13583/verein/873).

Seeing fans were talking about the historic day, he [tweeted](https://twitter.com/clinthill29/status/1256522326683901955?s=20): “10 point deduction in January and survival on the last day of the season, a team of full of character that managed to get the job done.”

Fans of the South London side clearly loved the post, as one said: “Always grateful to you and everyone else in that squad. Heroes one and all”

Without that team, who stayed at the club despite not getting paid for months, via the [Independent](https://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/football-league/palace-fail-to-pay-players-wages-1831775.html), it is worth wondering whether Crystal Palace as we know it would even be a professional football club, let alone a mid table Premier League side.

Here is what fans had to say following his tweet, one even labelled him a “hero”:
