# Crystal Palace: Fans praise legend Julian Speroni following tweet

**Many Crystal Palace fans are praising former goalkeeper Julian Speroni after a fan posted an appreciation for the player on Twitter.**

The Argentinian arrived from Scottish side Dundee for £900,000 back in 2004, per [Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/julian-speroni/leistungsdatenverein/spieler/12814), and went on to make 402 appearances for the Eagles before his retirement in 2019.

He was pivotal in helping the side get promoted to the Premier League as he made two world class saves during the playoffs, one against Brighton in the 2-0 victory at the Amex, via [BBC Sport,](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/22424087) and the other against Watford at Wembley, denying Troy Deeney the chance to score, via [BBC Sport](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/22592831).

He is loved by all at the club, and you can tell this from the replies to the post. He will definitely go down in Palace history as a legend. He even managed to have a testimonial at the club, via [Crystal Palace](https://www.cpfc.co.uk/news/2015/may/report-crystal-palace-4-3-dundee/), highlighting how crucial a player he was to the club for over ten years.

Here is what fans had to say about the goalkeeper, one even named him a “[true Palace legend](https://twitter.com/DeanSmythe1/status/1252665134008451072?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw)“:

> He came to a church quiz night fundraiser down my way, spent time with each team and had a chat with us after, got to ask him a few Palace related questions and a few about his personal life. A very open and honest man, true Palace Legend. Won’t mention his debut 😆
