# Crystal Palace: Fans praise summer signing Gary Cahill

**A lot of Crystal Palace fans are flooding to [Twitter](https://twitter.com/PalaceEaglesc0m/status/1243454641846747136) to praise centre-back Gary Cahill, who arrived at the club last summer.**

The 34-year-old arrived on a free transfer, per [Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/gary-cahill/profil/spieler/27511), from Chelsea, with fans believing this looked like a great bit of business at the time and he has proven it with his performances.

He has managed to help the team keep six clean sheets in his 20 appearances, per [SofaScore](https://www.sofascore.com/player/gary-cahill/9628), with three of them in his last three matches as he has paired up with Scott Dann in victories against Newcastle, Brighton and Watford. Cahill also averages five clearances a game whilst winning 3.9 aerial duels and 1.2 ground duels too.

These statistics emphasise how the former England international has been a great signing for the Eagles. It shouldn’t really be a surprise, given his experience at Chelsea, where he won every trophy available, including the Premier League and Champions League, per [Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/gary-cahill/profil/spieler/27511), and the fact that he has enjoyed a leadership role with both the Blues, which has been put to good use now [at Palace](https://www.standard.co.uk/sport/football/crystal-palace-roy-hodgson-gary-cahill-impact-free-transfer-gift-a4381691.html).

He has certainly impressed the Selhurst Park faithful, with many taking to Twitter to wax lyrical about the defender. One even described his performances for the club so far as ‘[immense](https://twitter.com/benyb123/status/1243477611029897216?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw)‘.

Here is what some had to say…
