# Crystal Palace: Fans rage as Luka Milivojevic starts ahead ofJairo Riedewald

**Many Crystal Palace fans were fuming with manager Roy Hodgson after they saw that [he had picked](https://twitter.com/CPFC/status/1335539489138040834?s=20) midfielder Luka Milivojevic over Jairo Riedewald to play against West Bromwich Albion.**

It is easy to see why fans are frustrated. Milivojevic has not had a good start to the Premier League so far this campaign. Going into the match, the player had managed 0.3 tackles and 0.7 interceptions per game ([WhoScored](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/70493/Show/Luka-Milivojevic)). These stats are very poor, especially for a defensive midfielder.

He also got needlessly [sent off](https://www.standard.co.uk/sport/football/crystal-palace-news-luka-milivojevic-red-card-appeal-b46598.html) against Wolves and faced a three-match ban, leaving the side with less squad depth during a period of congested fixtures.

The reaction from a lot of the fan base emphasised that Milivojevic has a lot of pressure on his shoulders to perform well against the Baggies as a poor game would lead to a backlash with fans running straight to social media to slate both him and the manager.

The Eagles lost their [last two games](https://www.skysports.com/crystal-palace-results) against Burnley and Newcastle, so the West Brom game was deemed a must-win clash, hence why these fans were not happy with the manager’s choice of midfielders.

### Here is how Palace fans reacted as they saw Milivojevic starting for the club:

> Why does he continue to play luka no offence to the lad he offers nothing other than a guaranteed yellow card

> Jairo not starting with Luka coming straight back in to the midfield. Just sums it all up really. 🤦🏻‍♂️
