# Crystal Palace: Fans rave over Dougie Freedman’s career following club post

**A lot of Crystal Palace fans clearly have a lot of time and respect for Dougie Freedman after they flooded to a club [post](https://twitter.com/CPFC/status/1264826596160155648?s=20) wishing him a happy birthday to praise his playing career whilst at the club.**

As a player, he is easily considered a club legend, as he is part of a very elite group of players who netted over 100 goals for the club and is the Eagles’ sixth all-time goal scorer with 108 strikes from 368 games, according to [Holmesdale.net](https://www.holmesdale.net/page.php?id=317).

This is a great tally for any striker to achieve at any club, and he is clearly appreciated for his great service to the side. Indeed, he now has a role at the club as Sporting Director, so clearly his small period in charge where he led the squad into a promotion fight before bizarrely leaving for Bolton back in 2012, per [Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/dougie-freedman/profil/trainer/13187), has not ruined his reputation at Selhurst Park.

Here is what Palace fans have been saying following the tweet:

> Great player for us – scorer of big goals. Up there in the top 5 strikers we have had at the club. Happy Birthday Doug!

> He was some finisher! Surprised the goal in the 2-3 defeat to Arry’s Pompey isn’t in that compilation?
