# Crystal Palace: Fans rave over John Salako

**A lot of Crystal Palace fans are discussing former player John Salako after a fan posted a [tweet](https://twitter.com/PalaceEaglesc0m/status/1255738653826936833?s=20) appreciating the player.**

The winger began his career with Palace in the mid 1980’s. He was in the side for the 1990 FA Cup final, via [playwithalegend](https://www.playwithalegend.com/john-salako). In 1990-91 he memorably scored twice in the Eagles’ 3-0 win over Manchester United in the league.

He eventually left Palace in August 1995. He made 215 appearances and scored twenty-two goals, before playing for other clubs in London including Brentford, Charlton Athletic and Fulham, [per Soccerbase](https://www.soccerbase.com/players/player.sd?player_id=6979).

He did make a return to Selhurst Park however when he joined Alan Pardew’s coaching staff as a first team coach from August 2015 until the manager was sacked in December 2016, via [Premier League Heroes](https://www.premierleagueheroes.com/john-salako/), whilst also playing in goalkeeping legend Julian Speroni’s testimonial in May 2015, per [Crystal Palace](https://www.cpfc.co.uk/news/2015/may/report-crystal-palace-4-3-dundee/).

Clearly he was a fan favourite as fans flooded the post to praise the Englishman, with one saying, “One of my favourites”.

Here is what fans had to say about the player:
