# Crystal Palace: Fans react as James McArthur makes landmark appearance

**Crystal Palace’s 2-0 victory against AFC Bournemouth in their Premier League return was a great result and pushed them up to ninth in the division.**

James McArthur played a great game, getting a 7.3 rating on[SofaScore](https://www.sofascore.com/crystal-palace-bournemouth/hkb) on what was a big day for him as he made his [200th appearance](https://twitter.com/CPFC/status/1274739780996251650?s=20) in all competitions for the Eagles, and many Palace fans are reacting to this great achievement.

The Scottish midfielder joined the club for a fee of £7.92 million, per [Transfermarkt,](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/james-mcarthur/leistungsdatenverein/spieler/41416)from Wigan Athletic. Indeed, it was a club-record transfer fee at the time and he has more than repaid that by scoring 19 goals for the South London side, picking up 17 assists.

He is adored by fans of the club and clearly they believe he has a great impact when in the starting eleven, judging by their replies to the club[tweeting](https://twitter.com/CPFC/status/1274739780996251650?s=20) about his landmark appearance. With the player now [32,](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/james-mcarthur/leistungsdatenverein/spieler/41416) many are probably wondering how many more appearances he will make for the side.

189 of these games have come in the Premier League, making him the club’s second highest appearance maker in this competition, via [11vs11](https://www.11v11.com/teams/crystal-palace/tab/stats/option/appearances/). He will surely go down as a hero at Selhurst Park.

> What a guy. Absolute bargain. Proper pro. You just know no manager has had any issues with him off the pitch. And his quality goes far too under the radar, not forgetting his work rate. Shame he’s at the end of his career now.
