# Crystal Palace: Fans react as Nathan Ferguson picks up another injury

**Many Crystal Palace fans are reacting to the latest injury update on [summer signing](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/nathan-ferguson/profil/spieler/507254) Nathan Ferguson, who has yet to feature for the South London side.**

The Athletic journalist Dominic Fifield reported that the defender has suffered another injury setback. He [tweeted:](https://twitter.com/domfifield/status/1337397348176162816?s=20) “Nathan Ferguson, whose progress has been so frustrated by a knee injury, has now had his comeback delayed further after picking up a thigh strain in training at [#CPFC](https://twitter.com/hashtag/CPFC?src=hashtag_click) this week. He has been scanned, but it is not yet clear how long this latest set-back will keep him out.”

The player is only [20-years-old](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/nathan-ferguson/profil/spieler/507254) and already showed the great potential he has when he played in the Championship last season. The defender managed 2.4 tackles and 1.7 clearances on average per game, via [WhoScored.](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/349891/Show/Nathan-Ferguson)

This has frustrated a lot of the Palace fan base, with many comparing him to the very injury prone [Connor Wickham](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/connor-wickham/profil/spieler/95435). They also hope that it means that right-back [Nathaniel Clyne](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/nathaniel-clyne/profil/spieler/85177), who he starting for the club currently will get a contract extension. It expires in January but it looks like it is needed with Ferguson suffering another injury. If they don’t it means the only [fit right-back](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/crystal-palace/startseite/verein/873) they will have is Joel Ward.

### Here is how fans reacted to the news on Ferguson:

> Gutting for the lad. Surely Clyne needs a contract extension

> How frustrating. Clyne should be given the extension regardless as he’s been excellent but all the more reason to sign him on a long term contract now. [https://t.co/Vou47SHMTP](https://t.co/Vou47SHMTP)
