# Crystal Palace: Fans react as Vicente Guaita is close to agreeing a new contract

**Many Crystal Palace fans are reacting to the latest reports which have provided an update on the future of goalkeeper Vicente Guaita.**

According to the [Evening Standard](https://www.standard.co.uk/sport/football/crystal-palace-vicente-guaita-new-contract-b302321.html) and tweeted out by [@cpfc\_xtra](https://twitter.com/cpfc_xtra/status/1338431310482771968?s=20), Crystal Palace are in talks with goalkeeper Guaita over a new contract. It is understood that the Eagles have a one-year extension option in his current contract.

The Spaniard showed his quality in the 1-1 draw to Tottenham Hotspur at the weekend despite an error for Harry Kane’s goal. He made five saves, including two great ones in the last five minutes ([SofaSc0re](https://www.sofascore.com/crystal-palace-tottenham/hI)). He was [also awarded](https://www.skysports.com/football/c-palace-vs-tottenham/report/428948) the Man of the Match award.

The South London fan base clearly feel like he deserves to stay at the club past the summer (when his current deal [expires](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/vicente-guaita/leistungsdatenverein/spieler/64399)), with one saying ‘he’s been class consistently’ in response to this news.

Since signing on a [free](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/vicente-guaita/leistungsdatenverein/spieler/64399), the goalkeeper has played 67 times in the division, being in between the sticks for 26 losses, 26 wins and 15 draws ([Premier League](https://www.premierleague.com/players/7548/Vicente-Guaita/stats)). He has kept 18 clean sheets and made 212 saves.
