# Crystal Palace: Fans react to Andre Ayew news

**Crystal Palace [linked](https://www.90min.com/posts/crystal-palace-exclusive-transfer-news-patrick-vieira-arsenal-man-city-reinforcements) forward Andre Ayew has joined Qatari side Al Sadd on a free transfer, penning an initial [two-year deal](https://twitter.com/AlsaddSC/status/1418317877594181632).**

A number of Palace supporters got wind of the confirmed deal on social media, with plenty sharing their relief at the news.

Reports earlier this month from [90min](https://www.90min.com/posts/crystal-palace-exclusive-transfer-news-patrick-vieira-arsenal-man-city-reinforcements) suggested that talks were underway between the Eagles and Ayew, who left Swansea City after his [deal expired](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11731/12324559/andre-ayew-leaves-swansea-as-wayne-routledge-is-offered-a-new-contract) at the end of the previous campaign.

Ayew, brother of Palace forward Jordan, was [reportedly](https://www.90min.com/posts/crystal-palace-exclusive-transfer-news-patrick-vieira-arsenal-man-city-reinforcements) keen on a move to London, but he’s now made the move to Qatar, where he will work under Barcelona legend [Xavi Hernandez](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11833/12304982/barcelona-legend-xavi-signs-two-year-extension-at-qatari-club-al-sadd).

### Palace fans react

[@CPFCtransfersHQ](https://twitter.com/CPFCtransfersHQ/status/1418479073001713665) shared the news on Ayew’s two-year deal with Al Sadd on Friday morning.

This is what these Palace fans had to say, with the majority thankful a move to Selhurst Park never materialised, possibly due to his [£83,000-a-week](https://salarysport.com/football/sky-bet-championship/swansea-city/) wage in Wales and the fact he is 31 years of age.
