The two sides faced off in a pre-season friendly prior to the 2020/21 campaign, with [Eberechi Eze starring in what was his first appearance as a Palace player](https://www.cpfc.co.uk/news/2020/august/report-crystal-palace-v-charlton-athletic-friendly---ezes-first-game/).

Eze won’t be available this time around, though, after he suffered a [serious injury in training which will keep him out for at least six months](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/57179484).

The Eagles are still on the search for a new manager, and you’d hope the club will have found Roy Hodgson’s long-term successor by the time they take on the League One side next month.
