# Crystal Palace: Fans react to Joel Ward contract

**Joel Ward has re-joined Crystal Palace, [signing a two-year deal](https://www.cpfc.co.uk/news/announcement/joel-ward-extends-palace-contract/2021-07-15/) at Selhurst Park.**

The Eagles [shared the news on Thursday afternoon](https://twitter.com/CPFC/status/1415673291222568982), and, as to be expected, a number of Palace fans were quick to share their positive thoughts at the update on social media.

The right-back’s previous contract expired on July 1, so he was technically a free agent for over two weeks.

He was just one of [11](https://twitter.com/GeorgeSessions/status/1410478334220378114) senior Palace players who were without a club at the beginning of the month and becomes the first to re-sign for the Eagles under new manager Patrick Vieira.

Ward, who has been at Palace since [2012](https://www.cpfc.co.uk/news/announcement/joel-ward-extends-palace-contract/2021-07-15/), has made [273](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/joel-ward/leistungsdaten/spieler/92572) appearances for the club.

He’s turned out [225 times in the Premier League, scoring five times and registering 10 assists in Palace colours](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/joel-ward/leistungsdaten/spieler/92572).
