# Crystal Palace: Fans react to Kyle Bartley links

**Crystal Palace and Newcastle United are interested in signing West Brom defender Kyle Bartley, according to [The Telegraph](https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2021/07/08/transfer-notebook-man-utd-prospect-tahith-chong-set-championship/?utm_content=football&utm_medium=Social&utm_campaign=Echobox&utm_source=Twitter#Echobox=1625755828)’s Mike McGrath.**

As to be expected, a number of Eagles fans have been sharing their thoughts to the news on social media.

According to [McGrath](https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2021/07/08/transfer-notebook-man-utd-prospect-tahith-chong-set-championship/?utm_content=football&utm_medium=Social&utm_campaign=Echobox&utm_source=Twitter#Echobox=1625755828), Bartley is an option for both Palace and Newcastle. The 30-year-old has a [year left on his contract](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/kyle-bartley/profil/spieler/67421) and could be available for around £3m.

Bartley was a regular under both Slaven Bilic and Sam Allardyce last season, making [31](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/kyle-bartley/leistungsdaten/spieler/67421/plus/0?saison=2020) appearances in all competitions for the Baggies. He has turned out [105](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/kyle-bartley/leistungsdaten/spieler/67421/plus/0?saison=2020) times for his current employers and seems to be of interest to Patrick Vieira, who brought in [Michael Olise as his first Selhurst Park signing](https://twitter.com/cpfc/status/1413136632543281165?s=21) on Thursday.

The 30-year-old has twice been relegated from the Premier League, having also suffered the drop with Swansea in 2018, while he won just [0.9 tackles per game](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/71327/Show/Kyle-Bartley) last season, which would put him [joint-14th](https://www.whoscored.com/Teams/162/Show/England-Crystal-Palace) in Crystal Palace’s squad by comparison.
