# Crystal Palace: Fans react to news Gary Cahill will miss Fulham match

**Crystal Palace defender Gary Cahill was at the end of a [very dangerous tackle](https://londonnewsonline.co.uk/brighton-boss-graham-potter-potter-lewis-dunk-knows-tackle-on-gary-cahill-was-not-good/#:~:text=Brighton%20manager%20Graham%20Potter%20has,card%20used%20%E2%80%9Cexcessive%20force%E2%80%9D.&text=His%20dived%20in%20two%2Dfooted,challenge%2C%20it%20was%20excessive%20force.) from Brighton defender Lewis Dunk last weekend.**

Dunk was rightfully [sent off,](https://londonnewsonline.co.uk/brighton-boss-graham-potter-potter-lewis-dunk-knows-tackle-on-gary-cahill-was-not-good/#:~:text=Brighton%20manager%20Graham%20Potter%20has,card%20used%20%E2%80%9Cexcessive%20force%E2%80%9D.&text=His%20dived%20in%20two%2Dfooted,challenge%2C%20it%20was%20excessive%20force.) but due to this tackle, the Eagles centre-back will be missing for the upcoming fixture against Fulham.

Roy Hodgson was speaking in his press conference before the weekend fixture and [said:](https://twitter.com/CPFC/status/1319603842166738947?s=20) “Gary won’t be able to play tomorrow. We’re still assessing it but it’s too soon after the kick he took for him to play tomorrow.”

This is very frustrating and a lot of Palace fans are fuming, as the game against Brighton was his first game since he [suffered a hamstring injury](https://www.fourfourtwo.com/news/gary-cahill-set-to-miss-rest-of-season-with-hamstring-injury-1594199353000#:~:text=The%20former%20Chelsea%20defender%20suffered,Giroud%20for%20the%20Blues%20opener.) at the end of last season.

Hodgson knows the importance of Cahill, as in the past he [said](https://www.cpfc.co.uk/news/2020/october/roy-hodgson-reacts-to-crystal-palace-v-brighton--hove-albion/), “He’s also brought us leadership qualities, he’s been very good leadership-wise. He’s the best type of leader; he’s the quiet leader people don’t see from Row Z in the stand.”

For now they don’t know the severity of the injury, and it will be very frustrating for Hodgson as the injury definitely could have been avoided.
