# Crystal Palace: Fans react to Osian Roberts confirmation

**Crystal Palace [confirmed](https://twitter.com/CPFC/status/1423675327444783115) Osian Roberts as the club’s new assistant manager on Friday afternoon.**

As to be expected, a number of Eagles supporters were quick to give their thoughts to the news via social media.

Roberts, who was described as [‘the most influential man in Welsh football’](https://trainingground.guru/articles/how-departing-roberts-transformed-football-in-wales), becomes Patrick Vieira’s newest backroom staff addition after [Kristian Wilson](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-9847483/New-Crystal-Palace-boss-Patrick-Vieira-set-appoint-ex-Wales-assistant-Osian-Roberts-No-2.html) arrived as first-team coach and [Said Aigoun](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-9847483/New-Crystal-Palace-boss-Patrick-Vieira-set-appoint-ex-Wales-assistant-Osian-Roberts-No-2.html) as development coach.

The Welshman recently [stepped down](https://www.goal.com/en/news/i-leave-with-many-happy-memories-roberts-steps-down-as/1hym4tfxeeuv211up6kdwsiv6e) as the Moroccan Football Federation’s technical director and was [pictured](https://twitter.com/dan2eze/status/1421487187871346690) in Palace colours alongside Shaun Derry in the club’s pre-season friendly with Reading.

Vieira actually gained his coaching badges on a programme overseen by [Roberts](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/58045550), with the pair now set to work side by side at Selhurst Park in the Premier League.
