# Crystal Palace: Fans react to Steve Cooper update

**Crystal Palace have opened talks with Swansea City manager Steve Cooper, and a number of Eagles supporters have been sharing their frustration at the news on social media.**

According to [Football Insider](https://www.footballinsider247.com/sources-crystal-palace-open-talks-with-cooper-after-wowing-board-in-interview/?utm_medium=Social&utm_source=Twitter#Echobox=1624712964-1), who have been informed by a Palace source, Cooper is now the leading contender to take over from Roy Hodgson. The [report](https://www.footballinsider247.com/sources-crystal-palace-open-talks-with-cooper-after-wowing-board-in-interview/?utm_medium=Social&utm_source=Twitter#Echobox=1624712964-1) claims that the 41-year-old has ‘wowed’ Eagles chiefs in an interview, with negotiations taking place this weekend.

Swansea are now looking at replacements for Cooper, who could [reportedly](https://www.footballinsider247.com/sources-crystal-palace-open-talks-with-cooper-after-wowing-board-in-interview/?utm_medium=Social&utm_source=Twitter#Echobox=1624712964-1) be appointed at Palace soon. [Reports](https://the72.co.uk/237470/steve-coopers-staggering-swansea-city-compensation-revealed-amid-crystal-palace-links/) have suggested previously that he would cost any club around £4.5m in compensation for his services, but it seems as if Palace are happy to cough up the cash judging by [Football Insider](https://www.footballinsider247.com/sources-crystal-palace-open-talks-with-cooper-after-wowing-board-in-interview/?utm_medium=Social&utm_source=Twitter#Echobox=1624712964-1)’s update.

The 41-year-old led England to [Under-17 World Cup glory](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/steve-cooper/erfolge/trainer/37574) four years ago and took Swansea to the Championship play-off final last month. However, he has [never managed at top-flight level](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/steve-cooper/leistungsdatenLigenNational/trainer/37574), whereas [recent Eagles candidate](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11706/12341246/lucien-favre-crystal-palace-talks-with-former-borussia-dortmund-manager-break-down) Lucien Favre boasts [huge experience](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/lucien-favre/leistungsdatenLigenNational/trainer/535) across major European leagues, so Cooper may seem a significant step down by comparison.
