# Crystal Palace: Fans react to win that sealed play-offs in 2008

**A lot of Crystal Palace fans are loving highlights posted by the club on [Twitter](https://twitter.com/CPFC/status/1257284768355487745?s=20) of their victory in the Championship against Burnley back in 2008 which secured their place in the play-offs.**

They needed the win, and they did it in style as they thrashed their opponents 5-0, with goals coming from Ben Watson, Victor Moses, Tom Soares, Scott Sinclair and Clinton Morrison, via [BBC Sport](https://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/eng_div_1/7368618.stm).

This set them up with a play-off tie against Bristol City, but sadly the Eagles lost 4-2 on aggregate, via [BBC Sport](https://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/eng_div_1/7393740.stm). However the fact they finished so high up the league that campaign was a shock in itself as the club were fighting a relegation battle when Neil Warnock took over in October, via [BBC Sport](https://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/eng_div_1/7368618.stm).

Clinton Morrison was a club legend, making 191 appearances for the South London side and scoring 67 goals, whilst providing seven assists, via [Transfermarkt.](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/clinton-morrison/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/3145/verein/873)

He was crucial in the 2007/08 season, as he scored 16 goals in 43 appearances and without him Palace definitely would not have had such a successful campaign.

Here is what fans had to say following the tweet:
