# Crystal Palace: Fans slam Patrick van Aanholt in defeat to Liverpool

**Loads of Crystal Palace fans have been reacting to their defeat against Liverpool, and plenty of fans are furious with the defensive deficiencies of Patrick van Aanholt.**

The Eagles may feel unlucky to have come away from Selhurst Park with no points, having had a goal ruled out by VAR in the first half.

Liverpool came out firing after the break and took the lead through Sadio Mane, and the Reds added a second shortly after Wilfried Zaha had equalised.

The visitors’ second goal was exactly the kind of strike you just cannot allow when playing a top team, as the ball pin-balled around the box for several moments before Roberto Firmino fired home.

Many fans feel van Aanholt was to blame once again – the Dutchman has drawn criticism on plenty of occasions for sacrificing his defensive duties to attack, and he was caught out of position a couple of times in the second half.

The 29 year-old did make three tackles, per [Whoscored](https://www.whoscored.com/Matches/1376023/LiveStatistics/England-Premier-League-2019-2020-Crystal-Palace-Liverpool), but that hasn’t stopped fans from slamming his display, as you can see in the Twitter reactions down below…
