Cenk Tosun didn’t have the best of times whilst he was on loan at Crystal Palace last season, and his latest comments about the transfer will not please those associated with the South London club.
Tosun’s comments on his time at Palace
Tosun spoke about how leaving Everton permanently was never on his mind. He said he went to Palace with the hope of: “getting some minutes, getting some confidence and coming back stronger to Everton for this season”.
The feelings are mutual between Tosun and the South London side
When they signed the Turkish forward, Chairman Steve Parish said: “Roy felt we needed more firepower, so we took Cenk. Obviously, if we had bought him for £20million or whatever, maybe that would have been a better PR story, but he is an excellent player.”
However, things did not work out as Tosun only managed one goal in five appearances for The Eagles as he suffered a major cruciate ligament injury in March which saw him miss over 200 days of football (Transfermarkt).
These quotes from Tosun highlight an admission that the South London faithful will not want to hear as it sounds like he simply used the club to try and fight for a spot at Everton. It could be frustrating for fans to hear a player say this, especially when their club gave him a chance to play more consistent football.
In other Palace news, many fans are hoping a rumour linking a Champions League star is true. Have a read who it is here!
