Crystal Palace have made an enquiry to Coventry City over a possible move for Viktor Gyokeres.

The Lowdown: Gyokeres profiled

Gyokeres is 24 years of age and is primarily a centre-forward who can also turn out on either wing. Capped 11 times by Sweden, the Sky Blues striker has been in fine form this season, scoring 12 times in 24 Championship appearances.

He’s now valued at a career-high €5m by Transfermarkt so appears to be at the peak of his powers, and it looks as if he has caught the eye of Steve Parish and Dougie Freedman heading into 2023.

The Latest: Palace interest

90min have provided a transfer update regarding Gyokeres in the last 48 hours. They claimed that Palace are one of five Premier League clubs who have made an approach to ask about his availability.

The report adds that Coventry will want a fee of around £16m to part ways with their star attacker.

The Verdict: Needed?

The Eagles could be on course to lose star attacker Wilfried Zaha in 2023, with his current deal set to expire at the end of the season.

Should he depart Selhurst Park, a replacement would be needed in good time, so Palace may see Gyokeres as an ideal signing in the final third due to his versatility and impressive form in front of goal in recent months.

It seems as if the club will need to pip a number of top-flight rivals to his services, though, meaning they might need to make a move soon to stand a chance.
